The plastic bags are constructed of oxo-biodegradable polymers treated with certain chemicals that intensify the process of biodegradation.
Oxo-Biodegradable Bags
These bags are made of conventional plastic polymers such as polyethylene, polypropylene, or polystyrene. The polymers are often mixed with other additional ingredients, such as manganese or iron salts. These are used in the presence of oxygen to degrade the plastic, and hence the name. Once the plastic is degraded it can biodegrade much more quickly.
